Merging Technologies

2008 Material Handling Conference HK Systems’ merge technologies consists of Servo Induction Merge and Indexing Servo Slug configurations. The Servo Induction merge component serves as the system gatekeeper or traffic cop directing the flow from multiple lines to a single line entering a high speed sortation conveyor. Evenly spaced gaps are created regardless of the product size and traffic volume.

The Indexing Servo Slug configuration combines several sortation conveyor technologies. HKISS accumulates product onto a photo-eye controlled accumulation conveyor. Proper gapping is required and is measured through a series of brake-meter belts. Product transfers to a VFD controlled staging belt and accumulates maintaining the gap until full or timed out. The staging belt is released at a higher speed.

HK Systems' merge products offer:

  • Flexible configurations adapt easily to building constraints while eliminating upstream merges.
  • Efficient Merge and Induction – single and dual axis or single lane release
  • Gentler carton handling with VFD. staging
  • Higher Induction speeds – up to 600 fpm
  • Configuration Options- two, three or four lanes are available
  • Maintenance friendly – eliminates wide belt merges, power faced deflectors and combiners.
  • System balance is automatically optimized and bottlenecks are eliminated.
